Privacy Policy
Last Updated: February 19, 2026
Bibliostats ("the App") is developed by Casey Kirst ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information.
Summary
Bibliostats is a local-first app. Your reading data stays on your device. We do not have user accounts, do not collect personal information, and do not use analytics or tracking.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
All data in Bibliostats is entered by you:
- Book information — titles, authors, ISBNs, page counts, cover images, and synopses
- Reading activity — reading sessions, progress entries, start and finish dates
- Ratings — your personal book ratings
- Reading goals — your annual book reading goal
- Imported data — reading history imported from Goodreads or Storygraph CSV exports, processed entirely on your device
Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect:
- Your name, email address, or any personal identifiers
- Location data
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Usage analytics or behavioral data
- Crash reports
How Your Data Is Stored
On Your Device
All your reading data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. Book cover images are cached on your device's local storage.
iCloud Sync (Optional, Pro Feature)
If you enable iCloud Sync, your book library and reading progress are synced across your devices through your personal iCloud account. This data is governed by Apple's iCloud Privacy Policy. We do not have access to your iCloud data.
Third-Party Services
The App connects to external services solely to look up book metadata (covers, page counts, and synopses). These requests contain only book search queries (titles, authors, ISBNs) — never your personal information or reading activity.
Book Metadata Services
- Google Books API — used for book search and cover images
- Open Library (openlibrary.org) — used for book metadata lookup
- Hardcover (hardcover.app) — used for book metadata lookup
Cloudflare Worker Proxy
Book search requests to Google Books and Hardcover are routed through a proxy server we operate on Cloudflare Workers. This proxy exists solely to protect API keys and does not log, store, or process any personal data. The proxy receives only book search queries and cryptographic authentication tokens.
Apple App Attest
The App uses Apple's App Attest framework to verify that API requests originate from a legitimate copy of the App. This involves a one-time device attestation with Apple's servers and per-request cryptographic signatures. No personal data is involved in this process. See Apple's Privacy Policy for details on Apple's handling of attestation data.
Apple StoreKit
In-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not receive or store any payment information. See Apple's Privacy Policy for details.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your data remains on your device for as long as you choose to keep it. You can delete all your data at any time through Settings > Delete All Data within the App, or by deleting the App from your device.
If you have enabled iCloud Sync, deleting data from the App will also remove it from iCloud. You can also manage your iCloud data through your device's iCloud settings.
Children's Privacy
Bibliostats does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. The App has no user accounts, no social features, and no user-generated content sharing.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
